Job Title:                                Field Service Engineer (ADPE)


Department:                          Operations


Reports to:                             Regional Manager


Job Summary:

Installs, configures and maintains data processing and related equipment at customer locations in accordance with company policy. Works with a minimum level of supervision.




Will act as the main liaison between CHE and customer personnel

Must become familiar with customer operations to provide optimum delivery of service

Schedules and performs equipment preventive maintenance in accordance with guidelines

Maintains a spare parts stock that is adequate to service equipment under contract

Installs equipment Engineering Changes, Firmware updates and documentation updates

Reports weekly activity and critical situations to the Regional Manager

Contacts support personnel if a problem cannot be resolved in a timely manner

May be required to travel outside of the local area for training purposes or support

May be required to provide OJT to associate engineers and/or new-hires

Is expected to present a neat and professional appearance while on customer premises

Will observe all safety and ESD precautions that are related to servicing equipment

Will provide on-call service coverage to customers during non-prime shift hours

Will complete all reports correctly and timely


Educational and job experience requirements:


Education:   High school diploma or equivalent as well as trade school or specialized training in electronics, must possess at least one formal equipment training certification



Must have at least four (4) years of field experience

Experience on at least four (4) of the following hardware platforms and/or peripherals (IBM, STK, EMC, SUN, HP, Cisco, Hitachi, Oce')

Advanced understanding of electronic and mechanical principles and be able to effectively utilize standard and specialized hand tools and test equipment including oscilloscopes and digital voltmeters in the performance of his/her duties

Be able to accurately diagnose and effectively repair at least 70% of problems encountered during day-to-day activities

Required to use personal computer programs for word processing, spreadsheet,

e-mail and data communication applications

Able to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematic diagrams from a variety of manufacturers and be familiar with LOGREC, EREP or similar error-reporting programs

Have a valid driver's license and in some locations must be able to obtain a government security clearance

Have a current credit card


Specific physical requirements: Must be physically able to stand, squat, bend, reach and have the ability to lift 50 pounds
